Christmas Party Games for Kids
Stack away gift boxes:
Get a bunch of boxes (stuffed with newspapers) and wrapped up nicely. The goal of this game is to stack a variety of boxes in different shapes and sizes without sending it toppling. The one who has the highest pile stacked is the winner. The best thing about this game is that it can be played in pairs or teams too.
Guessing game:
There are many versions of guessing games out there. So, for a Christmas theme, how about going for one with stocking? Stuff a stocking with three or four small items (pinecone, bell, candy cane, toy car, ornament, etc) and ask the kids to correctly guess the items. You can let them feel the stocking for about a minute each before writing down their guesses.
Snow ball blowing:
Paste a paper on a table and mark a finish line in the center and two start lines on either side. Two kids on either side must use straws to blow a cotton ball (our pretend snow ball) and the one who first gets it across the finish line is the winner.
Treasure hunt:
A treasure hunt is one of the most favorite kids’ games and you should have it in your party for loads of fun. You can plan it either indoors or outdoors. You have a wide choice of things to hide – wrapped candies or candy canes, ornaments, bells, stars, Santa figurines! Hand out bags to kids to collect the items and take home with them.
Christmas Musical chairs:
Set out chairs as usual but there’s a twist here – a few chairs will have a picture of Christmas tree pasted on them and those who get to sit on them get extra points. The kid with the most points by the end as well as the one who is the last one sitting both get prizes!
Pass the parcel:
Use Christmas carols as the background music to play the traditional pass the parcel game. The one holding the parcel when the music stops is out of the game. It goes on until the last one is left.

Santa says:
A version of the popular “Simon Says” game, you can start the game with an adult saying “Santa says touch your toes, Santa says stand on one foot, Santa says twirl around once”. The kid who does something before hearing out the command is the next one to be Santa. The game goes on until everyone has been Santa at least once.
Silly Presents:
Ask each kid to bring a toy or game that he/she doesn’t want wrapped up. Collect all the presents and place it in a pile. Let one adult unwrap a gift and show what’s in it. Each kid will then choose whether to take it or choose one random wrapped gift. This will go on until all the gifts are opened!
Pin the nose on Rudolph or Snowman:
What’s a Christmas without a twist on the beloved pin the tail on the donkey variation? Simply get a big poster of Rudolph or Snowman and tack it on to the wall. Give a pom-pom nose to kids to take turns trying to pin it on the right place while blindfolded. Guarantees giggles and claps!
Why leave adults out? Here are some fun options for adults to have some fun!
1. Decorate Gingerbread Men:
Bake a batch of plain gingerbread cookies and provide icing to your guests so that each can decorate his or her own gingerbread man as they please.
2. Snow Painting:
Get a bunch of spray cans filled with different colors of non-toxic paint ready and place it on a table for everyone to use.
This activity is suitable only when there’s snow outside.
Mark out a square plot with a stick for each guest to use the spray paint to make their masterpieces. Judge the one which is best!
3. Balloon Tennis:
Attach flat sticks onto thick paper plates to make tennis bats. Blow up red, white, and green balloons to use as the balls.
Players have to try and hit the balls as they run across to the finish line.
You can also mark out a finish line and award points to players for hitting a balloon across the finish line in one attempt. This is a perfect outdoor game.
4. Follow the yarn:
The day before the party, tie a yarn to a pencil and then drag it across furniture and other places and leading to an end point. Do this with more yarns equal to the number of guests.
It becomes even more fun if the yarn crosses one another. For a nice touch, paste a handmade Christmas card at the end of each yarn.
Your guests will have fun winding it onto the pencil following around and bumping into each other!
